MEAT MARKET 1993 (Film excerpts)
While studying film in New York in the early 90's, I shot an experimental thriller which action was set in the Meat Market. An amazing place for photographers and filmmakers with its incredibly cinematic atmosphere and hardcore New York edge.
While this film will certainly not be remembered for its script and plot, it does features footage of the Meat Market before it became the trendy and touristic Meat Packing District with its cleaned up Highline, its exclusive luxury stores and expensive restaurants. This film was shot on an early morning while the streets were empty and the butcher warehouses closed. This is what Washington street, Little West 4th and area looked like at the time. This footage was shot on 16mm Kodak reversal film with a CP16 camera.
